The sessions will be held in the building at Emancipation Boulevard Dominico F. 'Don' Martina 18. This is also the address of the registry of the court. To issue documents or pay court fees, you must apply to the Front Office of the General Court.

Information Desk
The Court Information Desk is open to the public from8:00 to 12:00and from13:30 to 16:00. Here you can find, among other things:

  • issuing (procedural) documents and emergency mail
  • making payments (cash)
  • lodging appeals, objections and petitions
  • lodging an appeal in criminal cases.

Opening hours of the Court of Justice
The Court's working hours are monday to friday from 07:30 to 12:00 and from 13:30 to 17:00.

What else you need to know
In the building of the Court of First Instance, a general smoking ban applies. It is forbidden to make or photograph film or sound recordings in the building and the courtrooms without prior permission. The use of mobile phones is not allowed in the courtrooms and you are not allowed to eat or drink there.
In principle, hearings can be attended, because most cases have a public hearing. Exceptions to this are: the family law hearings, cases relating to minors and those cases in which the court rules that the hearing will take place behind closed doors (non-public). A minimum age of sixteen years applies to attending the hearing of criminal cases.

The Court of Appeal in Curaçao also hears cases on appeal.

  Mr. Mauritsz de Kort proposed for appointment to Vice President Court of Justice on Curaçao and Bonaire March 18, 2017 10:10 AM The Council of Ministers of the Kingdom of the Netherlands proposed mr. Mauritsz de Kort for appointment of Vice-President of the Joint Court of Justice of the branches Curaçao and Bonaire.   Mr. De Kort succeeds mr. Eunice Saleh in this position, after she became President of the Court in January. The decision is effective from April 1, 2017.De Kort was born in Aruba in 1973. After he finished VWO at Colegio Arubano he continued his studies at the HEAO in Arnhem. He then went on to study law at the University of Leiden. De Kort graduated in 1999 and immediately continued to earn his postgraduate masters course at the University of London.   De Kort worked as a lawyer in Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten for several years after his studies.
